Feet Under
"Graveyard Classics 3"
(Metal Blade)
"EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!" - the cannibalistic vocal shrill of tribal
death n groove leader Chris Barnes is pretty hard to miss! And so we have
the 3rd installment in the band's cover series with a set if toons picked
from the band's formative years that have stuck on with them over the
years - Exciter's 'Pounding Metal', Slayer's 'At Dawn They Sleep', Twisted
Sister's 'Destroyer', Mercyful Fate's 'A Dangerous Meeting', Ramones 'Psychotherapy'
- as you'd expect, all intense and heavy songs in their own right. SFU's
cement mixer with body parts approach grinds these further into the extreme,
although I'd still say I'd prefer the original versions with only Anvil's
'Metal On Metal' and Prong's 'Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck' truly
translating across to hit the magic '11' on my brain amp - considering
Barnes & co factored style into consideration guess that's a fitting
testimony to these underground bands in relation to their original crossover
appeal.
