JUPITER SOCIETY
Terraform
(ProgRock Records)

Jupiter Society is pretty much a Swedish super group from reading the line-up. This is the band's second album and what an album it is. If you like Star Trek you could use Terraform as the soundtrack. I do. I have one favourite band that stands out more than others and that is DBC (Dead Brain Cells). Their second album Universe has to be some of the greatest metal I've heard in all my life. That album takes me on a journey through the Universe like no other album does. The closest I've come is Oxiplegatz' three albums. That was until I heard Terraform. While no match to Universe it still intrigues me enough to listen to it day and night and let it transport me away into the grandness of the universe. If you haven't heard DBC or Oxiplegatz it's hard to describe Jupiter Society's music. It's both hard as well as symphonic without it being a black metal cliché. Its intricate and challenging without it being progressive metal pretentious. It's pretty damn close to the perfect album.
