DEAD HEROES CLUB
A Time Of Shadow
(ProgRock Records)
I've never been much for Rush, even though I know that I could very well
fall in love with their music. My lack of interest for what is most probably
Canada's greatest musical export ever others make up for. From the first
note of Dead Heroes Club's A Time Of Shadow I only had two reference points
in my head. Marillion with Fish because of the atmosphere more than anything
musically and Rush from the 70s. There's that storytelling to the music
that I associate with Rush. A desire to do more with music than just verse,
chorus, verse. To build elaborate passages and grandiose landscapes. That
Dead Heroes Club hail from Ireland adds to the mythical aura and make
A Time Of Shadow even more intriguing.
