With the knowledge that Chris Cafferty is a member of Savatage it's hard not to make any comparisons to said band when you listen to his third solo outing. Having said that you have to give Mr Cafferty credit for at least trying to get out of the shadow Savatage cast. Not that he always succeeds. Not that he should have to either. I like Savatage, always have since the "The Dungeons Are Calling" M-LP and with a new Savatage release far away on the horizon I?ll take anything that even slightly resembles Savatage to still my hunger. "Pins & Needles" is not just a substitute. It's also a record that holds it's own. It's just that you pretty much know what you get before you put it on. And in this case it's a positive thing.
