BEWITCHED
“Somewhere Beyond The Mist”

This Bewitched should not be confused with Swedish Bewitched or the British pop B’witched. The Bewitched that has released “Somewhere Beyond The Mist” come from Chile. If I have to choose, and I do, I’ll take the Chilean Bewitched over any other with the same, or similar name. But it took me some spins to come to that conclusion. The first couple of times I almost stopped after the first two songs, writing them of as a second rate black metal band. It wasn’t until after their cover of Candlemass’ “Bewitched” that I started to realise that Bewitched was like a missing link between black metal and doom metal. I still haven’t come to terms with the first two songs but the remaining 9 proved to be a thoroughly joyful experience. Bewitched’s biggest problem is that they’re on a too small label to be heard by any larger masses of metalheads. Unfortunately.
