ATTILA
CSIHAR Some people become underground heroes whether they want it or not. Some people are made up to be underground heroes. I can’t make out if Hungarian Attila Csihar is either or. He may be best known for his work on Mayhem’s “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” album but his CV also includes Tormentor, Aborym and Plasma Pool just to mention some. “The Beast Of …” is a collection of bits’n’pieces of all the stuff that he’s been involved with in one way or another. I like the Mayhem and Tormentor albums but to release a best of collection with Csihar as the common denominator might be a bit too OTT for my ears. There’s too much could be’s on this album to make it anywhere close to interesting. If you want to know why he’s a cult phenomena check out the Mayhem or Tormentor albums (maybe even the Aborym albums) but stay away from this if you don’t want to feel cheated out of your money. -Anders
