I approached “A Moment Of Singularity” with a rather closed mind. Being described as, or even just hinted as being another gothic black metal band might not the most intriguing sales argument. But once Asterius let the music do all the talking, they’ll show you that they have no intention what so ever to be just another gothic black metal band. “A Moment Of Singularity” might not be the most original album to be recorded but it beats the competition by miles on pure charm. There’s something to their mix of black metal and melodic death metal (somewhat similar to the Swedish version) that is hard to resist. They’ve managed to capture the essence of what it is that makes a good record work (all categories).
