Assedium are an Italian metal band who play ‘..true epic metal..’ and remind me a lot of the early 80s bands like Helstar and early Exciter with their wailing vocals and raw production. The band appear to be fans of Cirith Ungol (whom they done cover versions of including ‘One Foot In Fire’ for a Solemnity Music Cirith Ungol tribute). From their acclaimed ‘Far From The Light’ demo comes this debut, the 10 tracks of which show power and maturity in the interesting song arrangements. At times I feel the band struggle with their own material, such is the ambition of it, but then so did Celtic Frost didn’t they? Assedium are reaching for the stars, and with more practice, they should get there.
