“Transmutate”

“..Eyes wide open for the moment of the Epiphany. The transmutation has just begun...”. Indeed - prepare for poetic death! Although drawing superficial comparisons on the intros and outros to In Flames the truth is that AMD are far more deeper and sensitive in their 7 complex compositions (each averaging around 7 mins a piece) that in reality owe inspiration more to movements in the history of metal rather than singular bands. However, the likes of Anathema, My Dying Bride, (techno) Emperor and The Gathering do spring the mind at various points in each song be it ‘Fifth Day, Leviathan’ or ‘Distress In A Velvet Room’ or the epic three part ‘The Tragical History Of Doctor Faustus’ (based on Marlowe’s 1604 play) although they are mere glimpses rather than having full form in them and as such AMD do indeed have an original sound. Capping it all with exquisite taste in artwork from Niklas Sundin (Dark Tranquility), there is definitely more to this band than meets the eye, and a great inner beauty within it that will leave you in awe.
