ARCH
ENEMY
“Wages Of Sin”
(Century Media)
Swedish death metal band Arch Enemy’s new album "Wages Of Sin" is actually
not so new since it’s been out in Japan for some time now. I have no explanation
as to why it took it so long to be released elsewhere but now that it
has been Arch Enemy can prove to the rest of the world that the change
of vocalist, from Johan Liiva to Angela Gossow, was not to the worse.
Arch Enemy has always been tagged with the melodic death metal sticker
but this time they’re less melodic and instead a little bit more aggressive.
It could have something to do with Angela’s vocals being a bit rawer than
Johan’s. They’re not as heavy metal as they’ve used to be either. But
fear not. Arch Enemy has not given up on what makes them Arch Enemy. They’re
still melodic but they’re also a bit more for the throat this time around.
