Andro Coulton
‘Dragonhead’
(Sharandor Records)

Between 1975 and 1980 Andro Coulton was the bassist in NWOBHM legends Witchfynde (of ‘Give ‘Em Hell’ fame) but left prior to their second album ‘Stagefright’. For the next 27 years, he remained on the fringes of the music biz until now with the release of his first solo album ‘Dragonhead’. Pretty much a one man project and with demo quality sound, the album’s 11 tracks shine in that they have a sound that hasn’t been heard in 27 years: dark, brooding, simple but downright heavy 70s riffs the way doom metal should be but haven’t been heard since the likes of Sabbath and Pentagram crafted them! We’re not taking ‘Iron Man’ classics here but its the authencity (played by the guy who was there doing it then rather than some Justin Hawkins fucker prancing around to his dads albums) of the material that gives it a lot’ve potential. There’s still a lotta cobwebs to be dusted off, but with the right talent supporting him, ya never know...
