AESMA
DAEVA
“The Eros Of Frigid Beauty”
(Root Of All Evil)
I’ve never been much of a fan of mixing different styles and calling it
eclectic. I couldn’t figure out the whole funk metal thing and I don’t
understand this whole rap metal thing. Taken apart I have nothing against
either rap or funk. The only mix of styles that worked in my ears was
the hardcore metal thing and the goth metal mix. But as with anything
that shows signs of success in our modern society you can rest assured
that hundreds more like it will spring up like weed in a finely trimmed
garden. American Aesma Daeva my mean well but the execution leaves a bit
to be desired. There’s an underlying feeling of the band (person?) holding
back instead of using the full potential that the mix of goth, metal and
classical invites to. Pretentious is not a bad word in these circles.
Pretentious could be the difference between
indifference and grandeur.
