Adimiron
“When Reality Wakes Up”
(UK Division)

I saw these guys a few years back and was impressed by the way they stood out from the pack be it live or in the studio so it’s really pleasing to receive this second full length album after such a long time (I'm guessing label problems). Right off from the opening ‘Desperates’, Federico Maragoni’s pounding double bass drumming is the driving propellant to this powerful, yet slickly played and produced album. From the Biohazard-like ‘Wrong Side Of The Town’ to the Machine Head dervish riffing ‘Mindoll’ to the throat strained crossover of ‘Spitfire’, heavy emphasis is placed on Castelli and Valentini’s riffing which always adds the right degree of intricacy, melody or brutality to superb effect, and especially so on the quieter tracks like ‘Forgiven’ and the acoustic title track. I shouldn’t forget hoarse vocalist Spinelli, cos he does a fine job particularly on the ballardy ‘Endeavouring’ thus proving once more that Adimiron are racing off to be in a league of their own.
