| BEYOND THE EMBRACE
"Against The Elements" (Metal Blade) When the names of In Flames and Dark Tranquillity are mentioned in the same sentence you're right in expecting something great. But you also know that whatever the band does it will nowhere come close to the greatness of either bands mentioned. American Beyond The Embrace are being described as the first band from the States to take up the battle with In Flames and Dark Tranquillity for the throne of melodic death metal. If they believe that they're in for a rude awakening. Beyond The Embrace comes nowhere close to match either In Flames or Dark Tranquillity in musical prowess. At best they come close to understanding what they are all about but for most of the time they just end up another competent American melodic death metal band. But in a world full of competent melodic death metal bands they really have to stand out more to have a chance. -Anders Ekdahl
