40 BELOW SUMMER
"Invitation To The Dance"
(London)
I haven't heard a full Korn or Deftones album to even say if I like them or not but I've never been much for all the different trends that seem to pop up in heavy metal every now and then. So don't quiz me on nu metal because I know absolutely nothing about it. 40 Below Summer are being lumped together with all new hopefuls in that nu metal bag and from hearing this album I understand less of what makes a band nu metal. All I know is that 40 Below Summer could have as easily come out in the grunge era and I would have paid as little attention to them then as I'll do now. What sets Korn and Deftones (the small bits I've heard anyway) apart from 40 Below Summer is that they have the songs where 40 Below Summer just sounds like nu metal Creed or Knickelback.
